Shared Health (1502-155 Carlton Street, Winnipeg MB, R3C 5R9), and The University of Manitoba, Department of Pediatrics & Child Health (business addresses noted below), are inviting applications for a Pediatric ICU Attending .The position offers an exciting opportunity to join a team of pediatricians with a strong academic focus. The referral base includes children from the province of Manitoba, Northwestern Ontario, and Western Nunavut.
The PICU attending offers critical care to patients in the PICU and answers consults from in-patients and from patients in the Children’s Emergency Department, while supporting complex operations in our children’s OR. The PICU attending also covers the Rapid Response Team and the Code Blue Team when in-house. The PICU attending also oversees the Child Health Transport Team while on-call, supporting the team caring for critically ill children across our catchment area until admission in the PICU. The PICU Attending is responsible for providing educational training to all trainees. We are at a stage of growth in our PICU and will be welcoming Physician Assistants to our team who the PICU attending will be responsible for training and supervising. PICU attendings in Winnipeg may become involved in the new Research into the Enhancement of Acute Care for Children’s Health (REACH) theme, and may join the many research activities in Canada including the Canadian Pediactirc Intensive Care Consortium (CanPICC) and the Canadian Critical Care Trials Group (CCCTG).
The HSC Children’s Hospital of Winnipeg is the only tertiary care hospital that services the children of Manitoba, North Western Ontario and the Kivalliq region of Nunavut covering a vast geographic area and a population of 1.6 million. The hospital has all pediatric subspecialty services with the exception of cardiac surgical services and has renal and bone marrow transplant programs.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine Degree with specialization in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. The successful candidate must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Subspecialty training in Pediatric ECMO, Transport Medicine and/or Neuro-Critical Care are preferred. A Post-Graduate degree in Medical Education or a career in research is also preferrable.
Compensation
Compensation is as per Doctors Manitoba agreement.
