Senior Data Engineer

Title - Senior Data Engineer 

Location - Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Type - Contract 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Develop ingestion pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Synapse, and SQL DB


• Transform structured and unstructured financial data for LLM readiness


• Monitor and control data lineage, masking, encryption, and access policies


• Collaborate with AI/ML teams to deploy pipelines for model training and inference


• Build telemetry and monitoring to ensure real-time alerting for anomalies


• Integrate CI/CD workflows with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar

Must Haves

• 5+ years of experience in cloud-native data engineering (Azure preferred)


• Strong SQL, Python, and data modeling (structured/unstructured)


• Deep understanding of data governance frameworks in financial institutions


• Proven track record supporting AI/ML pipelines in regulated environments


• Experience applying data residency, anonymization, and encryption controls


• Familiarity with structured compliance audits and data access reviews

Plusses

• Experience with Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, or Databricks governance features


• Prior work in GenAI systems or LLM-ready data prep


• Financial services experience, ideally within Tier 1 banks or fintechs
