About The Role

The West Kelowna Warriors, a Junior A Hockey team in the BCHL, are seeking a dedicated and passionate Broadcaster to be the voice of our team. This pivotal role is responsible for delivering compelling play-by-play commentary for all home and away games, connecting our fans to the excitement of BCHL hockey. You will be an integral part of our media and communications team, working closely with marketing, social media, and hockey operations to enhance the fan experience and promote the Warriors brand. This position requires a dynamic individual who can engage audiences, travel with the team, and work non-standard hours including evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide live play-by-play commentary for all West Kelowna Warriors regular season, playoff, and exhibition games, both home and away.
  • Host pre-game, intermission, and post-game shows, including interviews with players, coaches, staff, and special guests.
  • Conduct thorough research and preparation for each broadcast, including team statistics, player information, league standings, and relevant storylines.
  • Maintain accurate in-game statistics and provide insightful analysis during broadcasts.
  • Assist with media relations, public appearances, and community events as required.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and sponsorship teams to integrate sponsor messages seamlessly into broadcasts.

What You Bring

  • Proven experience as a play-by-play broadcaster, with a strong preference for hockey or other sports.
  • In-depth knowledge of hockey rules, strategies, and the BCHL landscape.
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills, including a clear, articulate voice and dynamic delivery.
  • Ability to captivate and entertain a diverse audience.
  • Strong research, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with broadcast equipment, audio mixing, and relevant software.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced team environment.
  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • A degree or diploma in Broadcasting, Communications, Journalism, or a related field is preferred.
