What You'll Do
As a key team member of our team at The Dunfield, you will be responsible for:
- Inspiring and motivating residents to participate in programs and excursions.
- Organizing and coordinating activities for active daily living of our resident population.
- Developing and implementing unique, meaningful, personalized programs for a growing senior’s residence that breaks the status quo of typical retirement activities.
- Providing activities orientation to new residents.
- Updating Resident’s birthday list, on a monthly basis.
- Planning our quarterly “Meet and Greet”.
- Acting as the go to person on various resident led Committees Groups.
- Supporting Activities assistant on Memory Care with daily programs.
- Assisting with creating a monthly calendar of events on a tight timeline.
- Improving the intellectual and physical health of the residents.
- Identifying the interests of the resident population to tailor programs around these desires.
- Assisting with escorting residents to and from activities both on and off site.
- Maintaining a clean and organized activities environment and supply room.
- Documenting daily attendance, progress notes and departmental observations.
- Developing & maintaining a rapport with staff, residents, resident families and volunteers.
You are an enthusiastic and creative individual with a genuine passion for enhancing the lives of older adults. To succeed in this role, you'll bring:
- A Diploma in Activation / Recreation Therapy and fitness background an asset.
- 1+ years experience working with older adults an asset.
- A natural ability to teach, lead, and inspire groups of people.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational abilities, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- A flexible and positive attitude, comfortable with changing priorities and able to thrive under pressure to meet resident expectations.
- Competency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Publisher, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, with a professional and outgoing personality. You're comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
