Position Summary :
Reporting to the Chief Practice Information Officer, the Digital Learning Specialist (DLS) possesses strong adult learning skills to educate and support users with implementation of PowerChart Oncology in Cerner that support best practices and patient care. The DLS will work in collaboration with clinical and corporate stakeholders to support training of new workflows related to Computer Order Entry for chemotherapy regimens and associated processes. The DLS will create, revise and deliver education materials and provide coaching using a variety of modalities to support information transfer, knowledge acquisition and measure stakeholder competencies.
Position Responsibilities
- Provides training and support for clinical staff in a variety of settings: classroom, virtual, at the elbow support etc.
- Can travel to Regional Site to provide training and elbow support
- Hours at Go-live will be flexed to support the oncology department
- Hybrid work model- remote and on-site
- Consults and collaborates with employees and leadership to facilitate, engage and positively influence the instructional and learning environment.
- Consults and collaborates with key stakeholders, such as providers, Education Practice Leads (EPL) and Professional Practice Leaders (PPL), Transformational Specialist (TS) to develop/revise e-learning materials
- Identify learning needs of Learners and address those with individual staff, EPLs/PPLs
- Development of e-learning (software, content development, evaluation etc.)
- Works with team members to devise mechanisms to support scheduling of classroom participants
- Provides feedback on education support materials and assists in updating materials for specific end user populations
- Conducts preparation for educational classes.
- Manage training logistics including setting up classrooms, taking attendance, etc. and organizing training materials and technical aids including manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational tools.
- Delivers educational curriculum and training based on pre-determined lesson plans applying knowledge of adult learning theory and flexibility in training techniques and adapting to prevalent learning styles of training audience in order reach audiences of varied backgrounds and learning styles.
- Collaborate with professional practice to develop curriculums that are based on workflow and best practices; supports digital documentation driven by best practice
- Adapts to prevalent learning styles of the group
Position Requirements:
- Post-Secondary Certification/Undergraduate degree, or equivalent experience in Adult Education, curriculum development, instructional design, or related field preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of instructional design and development
- Demonstrated ability to apply system knowledge based on adult education learning style
- Strong interpersonal and strong listening skills with demonstrated customer service skills and the ability to understand customer needs is a critical success factor
- Experience with Cerner Millennium required
- Previous experience in formal and informal teaching required
- Experience in facilitating learning in various environments: classroom, virtual, in-person
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, presentation) with the ability to explain technical subjects to non-technical end users in large enterprises
- Experience in the development of computer based tutorials
- Ability to adapt and respond effectively to the constantly changing business and training environment
- Excellent facilitation/presentation skills
- Self-motivated, highly organized and detail oriented
- Ability to coordinate and facilitate teamwork and diverse groups
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
- Strong computer related skills (Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Power point)
- Experience in e-learning, Camtasia, Articulate preferred
