AutoCanada is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team and ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll for multiple locations across Canada. This role is critical to maintaining compliance with relevant federal and provincial legislation while delivering a positive payroll experience for our workforce. The successful candidate will work closely with various teams to manage payroll data, respond to inquiries and support key reporting and reconciliation tasks.

Your area of focus.
AutoCanada is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team and ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll for multiple locations across Canada. This role is critical to maintaining compliance with relevant federal and provincial legislation while delivering a positive payroll experience for our workforce. The successful candidate will work closely with various teams to manage payroll data, respond to inquiries and support key reporting and reconciliation tasks.
What drives your day-to-day?
- Process weekly, bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls for 500-1000 employees across multiple provinces and locations
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial tax laws, employment standards and payroll regulations
- Maintain accurate payroll records
- Reconcile payroll accounts and assist with year-end reporting
- Coordinate with People & Culture, Finance and Dealerships to track time, bonuses and other compensation
- Respond to payroll inquiries regarding payroll, benefits and taxes
- Liaise with external agencies such as CRA & Revenu Quebec
- Keep up to date with legislative updates
- Accurate and timely payroll processing
- Maintain knowledge of regulatory compliance
- Employee records management
- Reporting and reconciliations
- System maintenance
- Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation, tax regulations and statutory requirements
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
- Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality
- 3 – 5 years Canadian payroll experience
- Experience using payroll software such as ADP, Ceridian, Workday
- PCP (Payroll Compliance Professional) designation is preferred
