About The Role
The Senior Associate – Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for overseeing projects, mentoring a team, and fostering client relationships. This individual will play a key role in business development, ensuring the successful execution of projects, and contributing to the firm's long-term strategic vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as an Associate for the Mechanical Engineering team, providing leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers
- Drive business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients
- Act as a primary client liaison, representing the firm at meetings, events, and within industry networks
- Manage and oversee project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring high-quality service in mechanical engineering for building projects
- Support recruitment efforts, including hiring decisions and peer reviews
- Oversee project management aspects such as financials, budgeting, and scheduling to ensure smooth execution
- Provide expertise on mechanical systems, materials, and industry standards, supporting project teams as needed
- Stay informed about sustainable building practices and high-performance mechanical design
- Participate in leadership meetings, contributing to discussions on operations, strategy, and company goals
- Supervise the design and technical performance of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems within the team
- Collaborate with the Principal to share key updates on projects, team performance, and deliverables
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered in Ontario
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, including leadership experience
- Previous experience managing teams and mentoring staff is an asset
- Business development experience in Ottawa, with a strong professional network, is preferred
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and plumbing system codes, energy regulations, and industry standards
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Proven client and project management experience
- Strong leadership abilities, with a proactive and collaborative approach to team management
- LEED Accreditation is an asset but not mandatory
