Purpose
Director & Head of Products & Strategy leads and oversees the overall Digital Wealth Product & Strategy with a primary focus on conceptualizing and delivering against a 3-5 year vision for product strategy that includes all of Tangerine’s Wealth/Investment products, accounts and services. The Head leads product & CX journey initiatives that generate planned growth and profitability for the Digital Wealth client segment and product line, using data analytics to support decision-making. Key success measures includes attaining P&L objectives for Digital Wealth overall leveraging product innovation and enhancing the client experience.
Is This Role Right for You? In this role, you will:
Primary Focus
Product design, manufacturing, and competitive positioning and the development and stewardship of Tangerine Digital Wealth’s strategy looking forward across a 3-5 year period, leveraging internal and external support & partnerships with a global mindset using broad Market intelligence to deliver against Tangerine’s largest strategic extension, Digital Wealth.
Leads the CX & Process prioritization for Digital Wealth including directing improvement and re-engineering across all of Tangerine’s 2MM+ clients touching each of Tangerine’s priority client segments including D2D, Saver & Affluent client groups and driving new client acquisition.
Leads overall product stewardship including regulatory obligations & changes including multi-year legislative changes & complex day to day operational priorities supporting the business across core wealth management/investment product areas in addition to liaising with product teams across deposits, payments, credit and insurance to support a holistic Digital Wealth value proposition
Leads the build out and establishment of a new broker/dealer platform for Tangerine Digital wealth – working across BNS business and technology partners, with regulators and compliance partners to enable the target state Digital Wealth platform.
Drive new product and service model innovation to establish a competitive edge in digital advice market.
Product Management for the Investment portfolio specifically:
- Partnering with Scotia Global Asset management to champion product management for the business line including product development and pricing distribution, including working with partners on campaigns, rates, digital enablement and content marketing all with a focus on delivering business line results.
- Partner with Scotia Wealth management dealers (i.e. iTrade, McLeod) to collaborate on shared opportunities for product and technology enablement.
- Manage the Profit and Loss statements for the Digital Wealth business line including delivering on financial goals / targets for revenue, NII, and deposit growth / volume. Works with Finance and Portfolio Pricing teams to provide business line forecasts used in management of the business.
- Define and size the Tangerine target market segments and incorporate external trends and innovations to deliver on new growth opportunities and product strategies.
- Direct the realization of new market opportunities by leveraging the company’s distinctive competence across the Scotiabank group of companies.
- Partners with stakeholders to contribute to regulatory requirements.
- Determine and manage the KPI’s and KRI’s for the Investments business, including establishing department goals, projects and operational initiatives aligned with key stakeholder functions including Marketing, Service and Sales, Operations, and IT. This includes, approving final marketing and go-to-market plans.
- Provide oversight of technical, and marketing aspects of all products in the investment portfolio
- Pursue synergies and best practices with Scotia Global Asset Management team in building a best in-class investment solution shelf
Other Accountabilities
- Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Develops and executes business line strategies that align with targets, divisional and overall business goals. Works with partners as required to implement strategic direction.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
- BA or MBA
- CFA an asset
- 5+ years in a product role with 10+ years in a banking/wealth mgmt./financial services role
- 5+ years in a strategy or strategic initiatives roles
- Knowledge of wealth management and the brokerage channel is critical
- Knowledge of Wealth Management, Investments Regulatory requirements and Brokerage Operations beneficial
