Position Details The Science Operations Department at the University of Lethbridge invites applications for the position of Core Research Facilities Facilitator – External Partnerships.
This position reports to the Director of Science Operations and supports the continued growth, development, utilization, and promotion of the Core Research Facilities to external government, for-profit, and not-for-profit partners. This position will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and management of the Alberta Lab Services Incentives Program (LSIP) which is a partnership between the University of Lethbridge and Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA). They will seek out and be the main point of contact for external companies that would like to make use of a Core Research Facility and/or the LSIP program.
This includes the following:
Starting Salary: $35.66 per hour to $44.86 per hour
Position Qualifications The successful candidate should have a graduate degree in a research discipline and at least 3 years of experience building collaborative relationships, teams, and partnerships across multidisciplinary research. Experience with the preparation and administration of research grant proposals and applications, as well as working with start-up companies and small to medium enterprises is considered an asset.
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal communication (verbal and written) and must be able to work independently and as part of a team within a fast-paced environment where problem-solving, multi-tasking, and strict deadlines are required. The ideal candidate should also have some knowledge of the Core Facility Model at the University of Lethbridge and awareness of the technology and instrument capabilities in the various Core Facilities at the University.
Experience with drafting, reviewing, editing, and negotiating contracts and agreements is required. Attention to detail, excellent planning and organization skills, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of the University Community are critical for success in this position

- Helping the external companies to develop an application to the LSIP program through the University of Lethbridge;
- Conduct the pre- and post-award administration for the LSIP program, including reporting;
- Complete the quarterly financial reporting for the LSIP program;
- Work with external companies or government partners (ex. AAFC or ECCC) and the General Counsel for the University of Lethbridge to administer and maintain Facility Use Agreements for each of the Core Research Facilities;
- Resolve any conflicts that might arise with external partners in the Core Research Facilities.
