Reporting to the Director, Employee and Labour Relations (ER/LR), the Advisor provides expert guidance and support on ER/LR matters, policies, and processes. This role supports two Managers and the Director with policy development, projects, accommodations, performance improvement, and terminations. The incumbent will also serve as a backup for the team’s administrative resource, handling tasks such as drafting letters, performing severance calculations, and processing transactions. The ideal candidate is passionate about ER/LR, resilient, firm, detail oriented and an exceptional communicator, operating with a high level of empathy and integrity.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Core Advisory Support: Provides timely, accurate advice on employee and labour relations inquiries related to policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Workday Case and Project Management: Supports people leader and employees on cases submitted to the ER/LR team and maintains accurate case management records and notes. Supports the team with policy development, performance improvement plans, accommodations, and terminations. Leads special projects in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Terminations and Investigations: Provides support with workplace investigations and manages terminations with professionalism and compliance.
  • Administration: Drafts letters, performs severance calculations, processes transactions, updates templates/trackers, and maintains SharePoint hygiene.
  • Data and Analysis: Analyzes data, creates dashboards, and shares insights to support decision-making.
  • Research and Compliance: Conducts research on case law, labour trends, and legislative changes. Ensures compliance with policies and conducts regular audits to identify areas for improvement.
  • Training and Logistics: Arranges training sessions, ensures training compliance, and maintain accurate training records.
  • Other Duties: Additional tasks as assigned to support the Employee and Labour Relations team.

Qualifications And Experience

  • 3-5 years of HR experience, with a focus on employee and labour relations; experience in a similar environment is an asset.
  • Completed post-secondary education in HR, Business Administration, or a related field; progress toward an HR designation (e.g., CHRP) is an asset.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship building skills, with a direct yet empathetic approach to resolving complex issues.
  • Strong judgment, problem-solving, and risk mitigation abilities in high-pressure situations.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines while maintaining service level agreements.
  • Resilient, collaborative and adaptable, thriving in a dynamic and evolving environment.
  • Proficiency in Workday or similar HRIS is an asset.
  • Commitment to integrity, confidentiality, and fostering a respectful workplace.
