People & Operations Coordinator

Position Overview:

ShyftLabs is looking for a People Operations Coordinator to join our growing company! Reporting to the Director of Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for several day-to-day logistics and coordinations, spanning onboarding and offboarding, laptop and software account configuration, HR administration, interview scheduling, and improving people management components.

This role is meant for a multitasker and a problem-solver. Someone who can keep not only themselves organized, but others as well. Someone who can think on their feet, provide support to various leaders, and helps foster a fabulous employee experience.

Job Responsibilities:

Employee Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Coordinate onboarding schedules for all new hires, including internal introductions, account setup, and systems access
  • Manage offboarding tasks including account deactivation, exit interviews, and equipment return
  • Maintain documentation and checklists for both onboarding and offboarding processes


Employee Experience & Support

  • Conduct regular check-ins with employees and act as a first point of contact for general HR or culture questions
  • Help track probationary periods, anniversaries, and flag any performance or engagement issues to relevant leads
  • Take lead on the coordination of performance reviews, employee feedback surveys, and the organization chart and job levels (currently done in Lattice)
  • Work with Executive Assistant and managers to plan team events and gatherings


IT & Account Provisioning

  • Set up and manage user accounts across core tools including Google Workspace, Slack, Atlassian, Figma, GitHub, etc
  • Coordinate with IT vendors or internal leads to configure and ship laptops, including MDM installation and deprovisioning during offboarding


Benefits Administration

  • Guide new employees through healthcare benefits enrollment and answer benefits-related questions
  • Liaise with benefit providers to resolve employee issues and maintain accurate benefit records


Interview & Recruiting Support

  • Schedule interviews across multiple time zones and ensure candidates have all required information and follow-ups
  • Share candidate profiles and details with clients for their open roles
  • Assist in preparing onboarding documentation and communicating hiring outcomes internally


Compliance & Internal Processes

  • Work with Director of Operations & Chief Information Security Officer to support ISO compliance initiatives by helping organize employee training sessions and documentation tracking
  • Maintain confidential records in compliance with labour laws and internal audit requirements


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; a minor in HR or a recognized HR certification (e.g., CHRP, SHRM-CP, PHR) is strongly preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in a People Operations, HR Coordinator, or similar administrative/operations role, ideally in a tech or high-growth startup environment
  • Familiarity with common SaaS tools (Google Workspace, Slack, Atlassian, GitHub, Figma, etc)
  • Basic technical aptitude to coordinate laptop configuration and manage account provisioning
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and process consistency
  • Comfort handling sensitive employee data with a high degree of discretion


We are proud to offer a salary within the range of $50,000 to $65,000 CAD alongside a strong healthcare insurance and benefits package. The role is flexibly hybrid, with 3 days per week spent in our Toronto office. We pride ourselves on the growth of our employees, offering extensive learning and development resources.
