Manager, Applied AI
Location: Home-Based Canada or Hybrid Quebec city / Burlington, Ontario
As a Manager Applied AI you’ll have the opportunity to lead a team of seasoned data scientists and developers to develop innovative solutions in artificial intelligence (AI) for smart infrastructure and collaborate with experienced product managers to design new products and features based on artificial intelligence. By virtue of its unique market positioning, our team targets a wide variety of AI-related research fields, including computer vision, graph-network models, natural language processing and large language models, advanced signal processing, unsupervised learning and clustering, reinforcement learning, etc.
Responsibilities
Analyse user challenges, workflows and use cases
Present POCs and pretotypes to users to get early feedback
Keep yourself up-to-date with the relevant research and scientific literature
Provide a technological watch over various areas of AI/ML
Steer technical tradeoffs within the AI development team
Develop AI/ML algorithms and models using accepted best practices
Work with users to acquire data under signed data agreement to fuel the development of new and better models
Collaborate with data specialists to develop data cleaning and labeling strategies and prepares training datasets
Define metrics for model evaluation and usage telemetry
Prepare reports and presentations on results
Present results to peers, internal stakeholders and users
Responsible for quality and timeliness of AI development team's deliveries
Responsible for long-term quality and maintainability of the product
Responsible for skills development of AI team
Qualifications
BSc, MSc or PhD in machine learning or a related specialty
At least 6 years of experience Research and development in machine learning - including deep learning and advanced techniques
Experience in practical machine learning applications and development
Experience in team management and Agile methodology
Great communication skills
Ability to develop innovative solutions in artificial intelligence to resolve concrete and complex challenges
Programming and use of tools related to our area of practice such as: Python, PyTorch, Docker, LLMs, etc.
Strong problem-solving capabilities using various technologies
Capability to research a new topic and to learn quickly
Experience with major cloud providers (Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, etc.) and/or MLOps experience desired.
