Powerex Corp. has a full-time regular opportunity for a Financial Reporting Analyst to join our team. We are an entrepreneurial focused, fast-paced physical energy marketing and trading organization. Responsibilities:

  • Support all accounting operations – including month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes, financial statement and note preparation, quarterly reviews, year-end audit.
  • Prepare and review financial information, journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules with a keen eye for detail.
  • Investigate variances on a timely basis by leveraging critical thinking skills, knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and accounting policies. 
  • Support in interpreting and assessing evolving and complex financial issues and structured transactions based on IFRS guidance.
  • Proven experience working with large datasets, complex spreadsheets and/or data analysis tools.
  • Support the annual budget and planning process.
  • Build relationships across our organization to ensure the finance function is providing value-added support to the organization.

Qualifications and Attributes

  • 4+ years of related experience, including 1+ years in industry
  • Qualified CPA or equivalent
  • High standards of performance, a strong desire to learn, and a self-starter
  • Proven experience with preparation of complex accounting schedules
  • Experience with preparation or review of financial statements
  • Proficiency with reading and interpretating accounting standards (IFRS or US GAAP)
  • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) complex ideas and thoughts in an organized manner across the company to all levels
  • Strong understanding of accounting systems (SAP preferred), non-financial systems, budgets, and internal controls
  • Demonstrated industry experience with financial close, internal controls and processes, and audit support
