9 Story is a boutique entertainment firm with a deep knowledge of the kids and family production and distribution business. We are known for our best-in-class kid content across key digital platforms (streaming, YouTube, social, etc.) and linear platforms (Nick, Disney, BBC, CBC, etc.)
This role is an ideal position for someone who loves children’s entertainment; is data savvy; understands the digital space; and wants to help 9 Story carve a new path (learn, inform, take calculated risks, try new approaches).
You will be joining a fast-developing digital discipline at 9 Story, where your remit will include; the optimization of our existing YouTube channels, having a voice into when and how to launch new YouTube channels for new content, keeping the company up to speed on overall digital trends (YT, Social, Distribution) and exploring white-space opportunities/gaps in our strategy.
Reporting to: Senior Director of Digital Content and Production
Purpose: Why you’re here at Brown Bag Films
To identify trends, conduct audits and collect insights on competitive brands to inform strategic decision-making through consistent and granular management and synthetization of the Tubular Data Analytics System. This also includes tracking and reporting 9 Story’s digital channels to assess the performance of our own properties.
Delivery: What you produce
Monthly analytics reports with key metrics organized in a readable format (tables and visualizations)
Business and brand reviews conducted on a monthly and/or quarterly basis to help teams assess the state and health of operations
Year-over-year data reports
Competitive stats to compare against 9 Story’s owned & operated channels
Ad hoc reports to evaluate trends and properties
Field and answer questions on a daily basis regarding analytics/activity
Daily management of Tubular relationship and reporting.
Measurements: How we measure it
Accuracy, timeliness and relevance of reporting
Successfully conducting thorough audits
Providing educated assumptions and results based on accurate data
Feedback from associated teams, including digital, franchise and marketing.
Mining and optimizing data dashboards both on Tubular software as well as other social platforms:
Tailoring and maintaining analytics dashboard to regularly track relevant data to strengthen our YouTube portfolio
Identifying competitive sets for major brands to establish benchmarks and evaluate based on key metrics, such as viewership, average view durations, CPMs, geography, demographics, etc.
Standardizing collected data for ease of access by other key stakeholders
Working with digital team to create and communicate action plans to craft strategies based on findings.
Highlighting and reporting overall digital trends to enable key stakeholders’ decision making:
Conducting analyses of audience viewing habits and behavior to inform content production and marketing – what does the organization need to know? What’s changing? What does the future look like?
Collecting historical YouTube data to understand growth trajectory of key competitors to inform brand building timelines.
Exploring white-space opportunities/gaps in IP strategy:
Identifying what have key competitors done that worked
Providing key data points to inform Franchise in their platform launch strategy
Conducting research in order to evaluate IP for potential acquisitions and/or distribution opportunities.
Parsing through data to create bespoke reports and visualizations where needed.
Day-to-day management of relationship with Tubular to optimize partnership.
Knowledge
o Knowledge and understanding of key performance metrics.
o Knowledge of the Tubular system and/or analytics dashboards.
o Knowledge of YouTube CMS platform.
o An understanding of the Entertainment/Media industry.
Experience
o Experience with Tubular analytics.
o Experience with YouTube Analytics and/or other social media dashboards on a daily basis.
o Experience in film/TV production or digital media (desirable).
Technical Skills
o Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
o Strong mathematical skills.
o Proficiency in preparing reports and illustrating metrics.
