The Role

Pantheon is looking for a Technical Product Manager to join our driven and highly collaborative Product Management team. This role supports Content Publisher, a new product we are launching to revolutionize how content is published to the Web .

Reporting to the Director of Product leading Content Publisher, you'll join the working group delivering innovative solutions that are framing the future of Pantheon as a WebOps platform. Together with the Content Publisher cross-functional team, you'll help define and deliver on how Pantheon can enable not only developers but also editorial, marketing and non-technical users involved in successfully building and operating websites that perform.

This role is crucial in ensuring that Content Publisher is not just built and shipped, but is truly ready for prime time to deliver memorable customer experiences. You will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between product development and successful external adoption, with a strong focus on readiness, quality, and comprehensive documentation for our business and developer users. Expect to be heavily involved and hands on testing our product, polishing it and wrapping the most beautiful package around it to make sure our customers’ experience will be stellar. You will also partner with our engineering and design team to continuously work and iterate on our roadmap.

What you need to Succeed

Champion all Members of the Web team

  • Be passionate and understand how Web Teams work with their web platform, from web developers to editorial teams and designers.
  • Show extraordinary empathy for these users and be ready to feel and understand their pains in order to find better solutions for them to do their work.
  • Be as passionate about how writers write for the web as how developers develop high-performance web pages.
  • And never think you know it all. You continuously want to learn more about our users and you need to be ready to speak with users and customers on a daily basis.

Be Obsessed by Delivering Superior Developer Experiences

  • Understand the needs of all type of developers can leverage our product, from PHP developers using our Drupal Module or our WordPress plugin, to frontend developers spinning up our Next.js starter kit or back-end developers who will integrate our APIs to build advanced integrations.
  • Be ready to turn these needs into actionable user stories for our engineering team and designers to continuously improve our product.
  • Not be scared to experience yourself with the product.

Translate Customer Needs into Platform Requirements

  • Provide guidance to technical teams on customer priorities to keep development focused on high-impact outcomes
  • Engage with the internal teams and customers to gather insights and feedback
  • Collaborate with User Researchers to conduct user interviews, surveys, and usability studies to understand user behaviors and preferences
  • Use feedback to iterate on product features and enhance the overall overall developer experience

Collaborate Cross-Functionally

  • Work closely with engineering, design, and marketing teams to ensure the successful execution of the product roadmap
  • Collaborate with customer support to address user issues and provide timely resolutions
  • Communicate product updates and releases to internal teams and external stakeholders

Work Distributed and Async

  • Be ready to work with colleagues in different time zones using async communication (Slack or others)
  • Used to organize your work around the constraints (and flexibility) of a distributed organization
  • Comfortable with working from home

What you Bring to the Table

  • 2+ years in a relevant technical position involved with building or running websites (engineering, support, customer success, product)
  • Ability to understand and use systems built with PHP, REACT, CSS, Next.js or other JS framework as well as GraphQL and REST APIs.
  • Understanding and interest for all web tech stacks and especially Next.js, WordPress, Drupal
  • A mindset for working incrementally, breaking down complex systems into smaller pieces, and using prototypes and experiments to quickly test hypotheses
  • Technical aptitude with ability to quickly build expertise in unfamiliar domains and contribute meaningfully to technical discussions
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to craft business cases and narratives that inspire and influence change.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate user needs into technical requirements and keep engineering teams focused on customer outcomes

The Canadian base salary range for this position is 70,000 - 90,000 per year. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. At Pantheon, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
