Reporting to the Regional Operations Trainer/Specialist and the assigned store’s Department Head, the Bakery Assistant Department Head Trainee (ADHT) will undergo an intensive 13-week training program designed to provide comprehensive knowledge of department operations, daily routines, and management development techniques, including profit and loss accountability.

Upon successful completion of the program, trainees will assume the role of Assistant Department Head (ADH) for the assigned department, based on their performance evaluation. They will be responsible for fulfilling the duties of the ADH role and supporting both the Department Head and Store Manager.

T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada’s largest Asian supermarket chain with 37 stores across the country: 14 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 14 in Ontario, and 2 in Quebec. The Company’s continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.

  • Learn and assist the Department Head in managing overall department performance to meet goals.
  • Learn and assist in supervising daily operations and monitoring staff performance.
  • Learn and assist in merchandise management, including placing orders, planning, and executing promotional activities.
  • Manage product food safety and ensure FIFO (First In, First Out) practices are strictly followed.
  • Responsible for completing and maintaining GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) monitoring records.
  • Conduct quality control during receiving; manage inventory in both display and walk-in coolers, if applicable.
  • Maximize customer satisfaction by building rapport through friendly interactions, including smiling, making eye contact, and being attentive.
  • Promote teamwork and help foster an inclusive working environment.
  • Provide coaching, on-the-job training, shadowing, guidance, and supervision to department staff.
  • Lead by example by performing hands-on duties required in the department.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by superiors.
  • Completion of post-secondary education or above is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supermarket, chain store, or fast-food restaurant is preferred.
  • Strong interest in the supermarket and retail industry.
  • Strong leadership skills; accountable, pleasant, flexible, and takes initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Good computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Flexible to work various shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and statutory holidays.
  • Willingness and ability to work at different store locations as assigned.
  • Effective communication skills; strong verbal communication in English is required, and the ability to speak Cantonese and/or Mandarin is an asset.
