Aviva Canada has an immediate opening for a passionate Social Media Specialist to join our External Communications team. You will play a key role in leading organic content creation and engaging with our digital communities, responding to comments and messages, and building positive relationships with followers and customers. Based at our head office location in Markham (hybrid work model), the Social Media Specialist will work closely and collaboratively with teams across Aviva to deliver high quality organic content, and engage and nurture a community across multiple social channels through relevant content and meaningful interactions.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, manage, and post engaging organic content that is aligned with Aviva’s brand guidelines, tone, and objectives
  • Plan, film and edit fast-paced, compelling, engaging and creative content (photos, graphics, videos, podcast, copy) for our social media platforms
  • Lead day-to-day copywriting for all organic posts on our social channels
  • Manage content calendar, including French translations for all copy
  • Collaborate with different business areas to support their initiatives through creative storytelling and help create positive brand awareness around our corporate objectives
  • Responsible for community management, respond to inquiries, provide assistance and triage customer queries and feedback to the respective business owners in a timely manner
  • Implement engagement initiatives and community-building activities to attract new followers and increase engagement
  • Leverage analytical skills to track content performance, report on metrics, competitor benchmarking and landscape analysis

What You'll Bring

  • University or Post Graduate degree in Communications, Journalism or other related subject area.
  • At least five years working in social media, crafting organic content in a corporate or agency environment
  • Proven expertise in content creation for social media from planning to execution. Outstanding copywriting skills and experience in designing simple imagery and short-form video content a must have
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and trends, and experience working with all prominent social channels like LinkedIn, Meta, Instagram, Threads, X, and YouTube
  • Hands-on experience with paid social campaigns
  • Knowledge of social media schedulers and analytic tools (example Hootsuite, Later, Meltwater etc); plus video and design editing apps (Canva, CapCut) critical
  • Demonstrated experience in driving and delivering social content and able to prioritize tasks based on relative importance and urgency
  • Works well under pressure. Able to effectively and professionally handle complex issues and manage multiple projects simultaneously, in a sophisticated, matrix organization
  • Demonstrates good judgment, solid critical thinking skills, and exercises flexibility amid ambiguity
  • Has a positive attitude along with a genuine enthusiasm to support what the team is trying to achieve. The ability to embrace our collaborative culture is paramount
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-centric mentality in order to cultivate engaged communities, monitor and respond to customer queries and complaints in a timely manner
  • An understanding of the insurance or financial industry an asset
