About Us
Facilities Management is responsible for the planning, development, construction, operation, maintenance and stewardship of all the buildings, infrastructure, sites and services within Western's campus community. We work closely with campus partners to coordinate new construction and renovation projects as well as to complete maintenance and service requests.
Responsibilities
The Parking Services Assistant is responsible for actively enforcing parking regulations throughout Western University campus and providing administrative and transactional support for various individuals and processes. The incumbent will primarily patrol campus using an assigned vehicle with license plate recognition, compile and issue parking citations, and provide information on various parking regulations to the community. The incumbent will respond to general inquiries in person or by telephone and/or 2-way radio, and may maintain an inventory of equipment.
The incumbent will also provide data entry and analysis where necessary, including but not limited to citation patterns and correspondence. The position will support event management and be the key front-line representative of Western Parking Services.
- Please note, successful applicants will be required to work a variety of day and evening shifts in this position.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Currently enrolled in Post-Secondary program or
- Possess a Community College Diploma (or equivalent) in an administrative field
- Possess and maintain a valid Ontario G Class Driver's license (with a clean driver's abstract)
Experience:
- 2 years’ administrative experience providing customer service
- 2 years of driving experience
- Driving experience in a support service or employment role preferred

- Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude, with genuine customer service orientation
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to actively listen, inform and explain parking regulations in a clear and positive manner
- Knowledge of general office procedures and ability to operate standard office equipment
- Ability to follow formal business practices with high attention to detail
- Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work
- Computer skills with the ability to learn and use software programs
- Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public
- Ability to prioritize and organize a fluctuating work load
- Ability to work in a manner that is compliant with confidentiality requirements
- Proven ability and natural inclination to interact with others in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
- Ability to work well under pressure and use good judgment in assessing difficult situations
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions, drive and walk for long periods of time
- Reliable and dependable with the ability to consistently work assigned schedule
