RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the MUHC dialysis quality assurance committee, the incumbent is responsible for supporting the successful conduct of quality improvement research studies. The person will collaborate with Investigators and health care personnel to assume responsibility for the overall patient management and coordination of these quality improvement clinical studies for the MUHC Nephrology Department.

The incumbent will help lead all aspects of a quality improvement study aiming to improve vaccination among patients with chronic kidney disease.

General Duties

  • Help develop and implement specific quality improvement tool/program and provide education to nurses and physicians on the program,
  • Help develop/modify existing educational tools relating to these quality improvement studies as per MUHC patient education guidelines,
  • Develop and administer patient and healthcare professional surveys pre and post implementation,
  • Obtain informed consent, assess patients for protocol eligibility through personal interviews and/or medical record review in in-patient and outpatient settings,
  • Perform clinical assessments, blood draws, other as required per protocol,
  • Prepare orders for protocol related requests and procedures,
  • Coordinate all aspects of data collection and source documentation,
  • Complete all research related documents and responds to queries and requests for information,
  • Conduct protocol specific and scientific trainings,
  • Responsible for the Research Ethics Board submissions,
  • Conduct other related tasks as assigned by supervisor,
  • Coordinate and communicate contract submissions related to clinical studies.

Education / Experience

Education: Diploma of College Studies (DEC)

Field of Study: Nursing

Work Experience

  • Minimum four (4) years of nursing experience including two (2) years in a hospital setting,

Required Skills

  • Bilingual: French and English spoken and written,
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills,
  • Able to work under minimal supervision,
  • Self-directed, flexible, organized and sense of ethics,
  • Experience in nephrology and dialysis is preferred,
  • Clinical research experience is an asset,
  • Knowledge of international, federal and provincial laws and regulations governing clinical research (ICH-GCP) is an asset.

Additional information

Status : Temporary Occasional (1-3 days per week - Flexible)

Pay Scale: $24.40 to $45.29/hour Commensurate with education & work experience.

Work Shift: Variable schedule
