Position Summary:

Our Mental Health & Addictions Program strives to deliver exceptional patient experience, excellent patient access, and engaged staff. Reporting to the Clinical Manager of Withdrawal Management, Emergency Crisis Services and Adult Ambulatory Mental Health Services, you will provide direct clinical care for adults looking to safely withdraw from alcohol and/or drugs in a residential, day or community environment. Clinical care includes but is not limited to addiction and concurrent assessments, withdrawal monitoring, provide recovery based education to clients and families, determine appropriate treatment interventions, plan and facilitate transfers to community-based short and long-term treatment programs. As the successful candidate you will facilitate individual and group psycho-educational sessions, provide crisis intervention, and aftercare support services. You will be expected to maintain accurate records of all activities. You will also be required to manage activities such as meal preparation, supply inventory and ordering, and ensure overall maintenance of a safe, clean and orderly environment for patients, staff and visitors. You will participate in service committees and quality improvement initiatives as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Must have a 2 year community college diploma in Health or Social Service Program
- Addictions Certificate or Diploma preferred, and/or a willingness to enroll and complete Addictions certificate or diploma
- A minimum of 2 years addiction and mental health related experience preferred
- Must have the ability to facilitate groups independently
- Current certificate or equivalent training in non-violent crisis intervention, CPR, and First Aid certification
- Advanced skills and experience providing a range of individual and group interventions for the age range of clients with substance and/or concurrent disorders in a treatment setting
- Exceptional crisis intervention and relapse prevention skills
- Working knowledge of pharmacology properties of illicit drugs and/or alcohol relevant to Withdrawal Management • Demonstrates excellent assessment, observation, and motivational interviewing skills
- Knowledge of community agencies providing treatment and supportive care
- Proven organizational, prioritization, and problem solving skills
- Participate in team building, service development, and improvement activities
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrates exceptional personal boundaries
- Good attendance record
- An understanding of professional ethics and limits of confidentiality
