As the third largest school district in BC with approximately 4,400 employees in 70+ schools, we serve the communities of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, and the villages of Anmore and Belcarra. Duties
Reporting to the Assistant Secretary Treasurer, the Assistant Director, Finance & Corporate Services plays a pivotal leadership role within the District. This posting pertains to one of two Assistant Director roles, each with distinct areas of focus. While one position oversees Accounting and Financial Reporting, as well as Capital and Financial Services, this position focuses on Budgeting, Forecasting and associated Financial Reporting, including but not limited to the following key duties:

The annual salary range for this position is $105,020 - $131,274 and is complimented with a generous benefits package including Municipal Pension Plan. The successful applicant will be required to successfully complete two criminal record checks.

- Leads and provides expertise in areas such as annual budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversees the development of the annual and amended budgets in accordance with the Board of Education and Ministry of Education and Child Care reporting requirements.
- Develops and implements strategic and tactical plans that align with the mission and goals of the Board of Education.
- Analyzes financial information to provide direction and support, make recommendations, maximize use of funds, and ensure overall operations remain within budget.
- Ensures departmental objectives are aligned with School District goals and desired outcomes.
- Plays a significant role in overseeing, implementing, and maintaining key financial policies, procedures, and processes, ensuring compliance with legislative frameworks and appropriate public sector accounting standards.
- Maintains an ERP budgeting system that promotes participation, ownership, and accountability throughout all levels of the school district.
- Provides oversight and direction to the Manager of Budgets and Analytics.
