The role
Sectra is embarking on a journey to lead PACS replacement projects across Canada. We aim to revolutionize healthcare imaging solutions across regions and provinces, leveraging Sectra's cutting-edge technology and expertise to enhance patient care and streamline medical workflows. As a Technical Engineer your role will focus on designing, deploying, and supporting critical systems that drive improved clinical outcomes.

We aim to revolutionize healthcare imaging solutions across regions and provinces, leveraging Sectra's cutting-edge technology and expertise to enhance patient care and streamline medical workflows. As a Technical Engineer your role will focus on designing, deploying, and supporting critical systems that drive improved clinical outcomes.
System Deployment & Configuration
- Independently perform advanced installation and configuration of Sectra enterprise imaging systems, including Windows-based servers, MS SQL Server AlwaysOn clusters, Active Directory, and virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Design and implement complex Microsoft Azure cloud deployments, including hybrid or full cloud transitions from on-premise environments.
- Conduct in-depth discovery sessions with hospital system administrators, radiologists, and clinical end-users to fully understand clinical workflows, technical requirements, and operational constraints.
- Provide guidance to ensure optimal configuration of Sectra’s enterprise imaging solutions aligned with both IT and clinical needs.
- Independently integrate Sectra solutions with healthcare information systems (HIS, RIS, EMRs, and AI tools) using industry-standard protocols such as DICOM, HL7, IHE, and custom APIs.
- Resolve advanced interoperability challenges, including data routing, HL7 mapping, and cross-system authentication issues.
- Serve as a escalation point for complex technical issues, conducting root cause analysis and implementing long-term corrective actions.
- Maintain clear, ongoing communication with customers during troubleshooting and resolution phases.
- Provide coaching, technical support, and informal training to lower-level Technical Engineers.
- Act as a technical lead on deployments or internal initiatives, contributing to planning, coordination, and execution of project tasks.
- Drive the successful completion of high-complexity implementation and support projects.
So are you a fit?
- Experience leading technical project lifecycles, including planning, execution, and delivery.
- Skilled in translating complex technical goals into actionable project plans, effectively guiding both internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral in English (French is an asset).
- A degree in computer engineering with strong academic performance, or equivalent.
- 5 – 10 years in a fast-paced IT environment.
- Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in healthcare IT support, deployment, or system integration.
- Strong expertise in PACS, RIS, DICOM, HL7, IHE profiles, and healthcare IT interoperability standards.
- Advanced proficiency with Windows Server administration, MS SQL Server AlwaysOn clustering, and Active Directory.
- Experience configuring and managing virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud environments (Microsoft Azure).
- In-depth knowledge of networking, security protocols, VPNs, and firewalls in a healthcare IT setting.
- Proficiency in scripting tools (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) for automation and system optimization.
- Prior experience in IT service desk support or customer-facing technical roles is required.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues under pressure.
- A passion for service excellence, with exceptional customer service.
