We are looking for an experienced senior I&C Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team in Toronto. In this key role, reporting to regional Automation Manager, you will be called upon to act as a technical lead on large-scale projects, from the definition of needs to commissioning. You will play a central role in the development of robust and innovative solutions, while providing technical guidance to the project team members.

Your Role Within The Team

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Manage and coordinate with the project manager and discipline lead the progress of the engineering work in accordance with the project scope, schedule, and procedures.
  • Instrumentation and control system design, control strategy development.
  • Prepare technical documentation related to instrumentation and controls, that are required for the execution of projects, including but not limited to: equipment specifications, design criteria, P&IDs, schematics, loop drawings, instrument datasheets, wiring diagrams, layout drawings, installation details, control narratives, network diagrams, cable schedule, instrument list, equipment list, IO list.
  • Development and management of instrumentation and control system procurement packages.
  • Review vendor drawings to ensure conformity with engineering designs.
  • PLC, HMI, SCADA programming, commissioning, and Startup.
  • Execute control panel and equipment FAT and SAT, participate in commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Mentoring team members.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A Degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Registration as a professional engineer.
  • Minimum 10 years of diverse experience, and eager to develop skills spanning design, programming, field engineering and commissioning.
  • Experience in regulated industrial sectors (such as Pharma and Nuclear) will be considered a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to work efficiently in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Self-starter with the drive to go above and beyond consistently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders on a technical and interpersonal level.
  • Awareness of Health, Safety, Environment and Community policy and standards.
