We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Building Controls Service Technician to join our Integrated Building Services Team in Port Coquitlam, B.C.

The expected salary range for this position is $50/hr - $58/hr.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and solve customer Building Automation System problems based on accepted industry standards and procedures.
  • Recommend solutions to customers to fulfill Building Automation needs, based on accepted industry standards and procedures.
  • Perform work on assigned Service Controls Construction Projects as required.
  • Provide customer training as required.
  • Follow and apply the standard operating practices of Modern Niagara’s Service department, contributing to our customer’s experience and delivery of work.
  • Work with the Service Coordinator, to communicate specific, detailed information regarding parts and labor requirements.
  • Identify and collaborate with other business lines such as our construction and sales teams for other customer needs.
  • Occasionally participate in after-hours on-call rotation.
  • Work on design-build retrofit BAS projects.
  • Performing point-to-point commissioning of sensors and devices.
  • Checking the calibration of system sensors and devices.
  • Complete commissioning documentation.
  • Assist with the configuration of system alarms and trends.
  • Create/Assist with the development of user graphics and interfaces that schematically represent each system.
  • Maintain and report on company vehicle inventory.
  • Suggest methods for improving product quality design and installation.
  • Identify processes and procedures to contribute to the roles processes and procedures maximizing resources and efficiencies
  • Perform additional related duties as required.
  • Perform billable, warranty, installation, and preventative maintenance service work as assigned by the Service Coordinator or designate.
  • Enforce and adhere to the company's policies and procedures and Business Code of Conduct.

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

  • Education and experience with HVAC Design, or other controls experience required. Formal designation or certification not required with experience.
  • Technical field experience with HVAC systems, DDC systems, software, and device calibrations, or related experience required.
  • Electrical and/or HVAC/ R trade classification with relevant Control’s experience considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Distech and other BAS systems preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of control systems, HVAC, and other building automation.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
