We are seeking a highly skilled and meticulous Mechanical Design Documentation Specialist to elevate our product development process for next-generation medical devices. This role bridges the gap between mechanical engineering design and robust manufacturing documentation, with enhanced responsibilities in supporting R&D initiatives, process optimization, and cross-functional coordination. Please note, this opportunity is a hybrid work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC.
Meaningful work you will be a part of
The Mechanical Design Documentation Specialist will support Engineering activities for the development and design transfer of next-generation products and manufacturing processes, as well as improvements to the current-generation manufacturing processes. The Mechanical Design Documentation Specialist will report to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting change control activities such as creating new design configurations and managing design bill of materials in Solidworks EPDM and Windchill PLM

Kardium has listed the total cash compensation range (base salary + 5% RRSP contribution) that we expect to pay applicants for this role, as of the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors, including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs. For candidates with more or less experience than listed above, the pay range will be adjusted.
As a permanent employee, you will also participate in Kardium’s stock option plan.

The Mechanical Design Documentation Specialist will support Engineering activities for the development and design transfer of next-generation products and manufacturing processes, as well as improvements to the current-generation manufacturing processes. The Mechanical Design Documentation Specialist will report to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting change control activities such as creating new design configurations and managing design bill of materials in Solidworks EPDM and Windchill PLM
- Maintaining and updating design bills of material (BOM) in response to design or labelling changes.
- Working closely with the manufacturing engineering team to facilitate the creation of Manufacturing BOMs.
- Assisting designers in the creation and maintenance of detail part and assembly drawings in Solidworks, in compliance with company standards.
- Coordinating approval of new parts through the change control process.
- Assisting designers in troubleshooting problems they encounter when using PTC Windchill PLM, including acting as a liaison with the dedicated technical support team as required
- Collaborating with other teams, such as design/manufacturing engineering and information systems, to define and improve upon PTC Windchill PLM workflows

You are suited to our approach and possess these attributes:
- Technologist or higher A minimum of 2 years of direct working experience with PTC Windchill PLM, Solidworks, and/or Solidworks EPDM
- Drafting experience in SolidWorks is an asset
- Extensive experience working with engineering design teams in the creation and management of parts, assemblies, and associated bills of materials
- Detail-oriented, patient, and adaptable
- A proactive mindset for problem solving and continuous learning
