What You'll Do
- Collaborate with the divisional leadership team to develop long-term strategic plans to improve the company’s Hard Discount brand market position, competitive position, sales and profit.
- Measure Hard Discount brand performance and adapt strategies to improve brand health when warranted.
- Be the “voice” of the retail brand and protect the brand integrity
- Support the Hard Discount brand initiative for all banners through Brand Marketing practices
- Measure brand business performance (sales, gross margin, return on marketing investment, delivery of consumer insights) against plan for all business units and initiate corrective action when warranted.
- Direct the collection, mining and analysis of customer data in order to support sound business decisions throughout the organization and to provide a strong foundation for the development of discount brand strategy and consumer positioning.
- Direct initiatives to optimize discount brand identity store image, visual merchandising and packaging.
- Direct the development of consistent communications messaging and the programs that will deliver that messaging across all channels (broadcast media, print, electronic formats, in-store promotion, etc.)
- Collaborate with online, media, flyer distribution and Creative Production teams.
- Develop, monitor and manage within annual operating budgets.
- Manage, train, motivate and appraise direct reports. This includes explicit consideration of on-the-job training needs for each direct report, arranging appropriate training, providing timely feedback, and succession planning.
- University degree in business, marketing or an equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job
- 15+ years of relevant work experience in marketing, retail or advertising environment
- 10+ years of previous people management experience with the ability to lead and motivate a team
- A passion for food, marketing, retail and brands
- Proven ability to develop short and long term plans in line with corporate strategies
- Superior understanding of P&L process as it relates to the retail environment
- Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution
- Ability to manage the execution of high volume tactical marketing programs
- Ability to make decision in a changing environment and anticipate future needs.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Ability to influencing at all levels of the organization
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
