Position Summary

Senior Project Manager North York General Hospital is transforming how care is delivered — creating seamless, personalized experiences for patients, caregivers, and care teams across every interaction. As part of this work, we are seeking a Senior Project Manager (SPM) with deep experience in healthcare, a strong understanding of digital tools, and a passion for meaningful change at the frontlines. The SPM will lead the execution of strategic initiatives that advance integrated, patient-centered models of care across settings — both in-person and virtual. Working closely with frontline teams, patients, and system partners, this role will help shape how NYGH delivers on its vision, of World-Class Care, 24/7. by designing experiences that are coordinated, digital-first where appropriate, and highly personalized. This role requires a hands-on leader with a strong background in change management, facilitation, and collaboration with frontline clinicians and patients. The ideal candidate brings experience working in clinical environments or directly supporting care delivery and improvement initiatives. They understand how to navigate complexity, build trust, and translate strategy into action in a way that resonates with those delivering and receiving care. This position supports the Hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients and families

On a practical level, you will

  • Oversee and maintain the Strategic Clinical Initiatives Portfolio and supporting management tools. Collect, prioritize, and present requests and recommendation to the Executive Steering Committee and Working Group regularly.
  • Work with clinical and corporate leaders to assign and manage project resources, ensuring effective alignment of staff and operational capacity. Follow NYGH project management methodology to initiate, manage and close the project accordingly. Ensure all documentation is archived appropriately and that transition plans for sustainability and operational handover are clearly defined.
  • Lead the intake and assessment of new strategic initiatives through the Strategy Office’s intake process, including collecting background information, clarifying scope and alignment, reviewing proposals against defined criteria, presenting recommendations, and supporting decisions through to implementation.
  • Monitor project deliverables to ensure milestones are met on-budget and on-time, and hold routine communications with team members to discuss the status of project deliverables, shared issues, end-user concerns, budget, and upcoming milestones.
  • Lead the implementation and post-evaluation of complex, enterprise-wide strategic projects. Define performance indicators, monitor impact throughout the project lifecycle, and report outcomes as part of the project close-out process.
  • Act as the link between local, regional, and system-level strategic priorities, ensuring NYG’s initiatives are responsive to broader healthcare transformation agendas. Promotes and implements change management and innovation to support the delivery of key project priorities. Works with Finance regarding the management of project budgets and the preparation of financial reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration or related discipline from an accredited institution is required.;
  • 5+ years of project management experience or blend of functional management and project management experience is required, with a demonstrated track record of successfully delivering large, complex projects, with multiple stakeholders.;
  • 2+ years experience managing multi-discipline project resources.;
  • Master’s degree in Health/Hospital Administration, Business Administration or related field is preferred.
  • Experience in a clinical healthcare setting is an asset.
  • A valid Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate is required (or working towards it).
  • Other certification (Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt, ITIL, IIBA, Change Management) is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior management and project stakeholders.
  • Ability to apply extensive project management knowledge and expertise (project planning, implementation, evaluation, risk assessment, benefits realization.
  • Ability to mentor and affect desired results based on team members' individual goals and objectives (specifically listening, coaching, group facilitation and conflict resolution skills)
  • Strong tactical and good critical thinking.
  • Proven ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic project environment.
  • Analytical ability with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent ability to anticipate and analyze risks and issues, explore alternatives, develop appropriate recommendations with project and technical teams and present issue to the project champions and sponsors.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects, prioritize multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical issues clearly, both verbally and through written communications.
  • Excellent customer relations and support service.
