Posting Overview

The Carpenter provides carpentry services at Board facilities including facility renovations, cabinet making and custom millwork, the repair and maintenance of buildings (including playground equipment), drywall, Acoustical Carpentry as per T.Q.A.; and provides assistance to other trades as required.

Qualifications/Experience

  • minimum one-year community college program;
  • certificate of Qualification as a General Carpenter and/or Provincial Certification;
  • three years minimum experience;
  • ability to read and interpret blueprints;
  • perform renovations such as demolition, framing steel and wood, installing windows, doors, cabinets, etc., insulating, drywalling, floor and repairs;
  • perform cabinet making and custom millwork – reading blueprints, prepare materials, project assembly, project finishing and installation;
  • able to deal effectively and courteously with staff, contractors, and the public;
  • thorough working knowledge of Ontario Health and Safety Act, and Construction Safety Act and the Ontario Building Code;
  • must be willing to travel throughout the district;
  • other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Maintenance.

Position Effective Date & Length

Permanent, CUPE 12 month, 40 hours/week, 8 hours/day, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Home location to be determined.

Level 6 - $33.52 - $35.47
