Summary:

The Director, CWS Business Partner, Canada is responsible for leading and overseeing the CWS function across Canada. Primary focus is on developing and executing the Canada CWS strategy, driving CWS initiatives, and ensuring alignment with business goals. This role provides strategic CWS leadership for Canada and matrix leads Canada CWS COE and CWE teams. Additionally this role works closely with senior and executive leadership to optimize CWS practices in Canada. The Director leads and directs multiple Business Partners and facilitates developing and implementing solutions through culture, processes and best practices while ensuring compliance of all internal policies and Country specific laws.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop and Execute Canada CWS Strategy: Develop and evolve the Canada CWS Strategy. Build CWS goals that are aligned with business objectives and all relevant CWS matrix stakeholders. Oversee and drive their execution across Canada.
  • Partner with Senior Management: Serve as the primary interface with executive and senior leadership levels on CWS issues within Canada. Advise business leaders on CWS drivers, inclusive of talent planning, development, respective country legislature, policies, and performance management to promote an inclusive culture of continuous growth and development. Partner with business leaders to design and execute scalable talent strategies that drive tangible business results.
  • Build a Fit-For-Purpose CWS Canada Organization and Standardize CWS Initiatives and Programs: Optimize the Canada CWS organization based on current and future business needs in collaboration with all relevant CWS stakeholders (COE/CWE leaders). Oversee and drive CWS function specific initiatives, processes, and programs in collaboration with leaders across the CWS matrix (COE/CWE) to achieve desired business outcomes.
  • Leadership: Lead, motivate and develop a Business Partner team that is laser-focused on delivering and achieving critical business results; being viewed as trusted partners and thought-leaders throughout the organization.
  • Lead Organizational Design and Development: Support organizational design and development, transformation and M&A strategies by leading and overseeing the respective organizational and talent agendas. Oversee and drive change management initiatives across Canada.
  • Talent Planning and Management: Lead and oversee efforts regarding research and data analytics that identify talent gaps, assess organizational performance, and propose solutions that are in support of the business and that are in promotion of ongoing talent development and succession plans.
  • Provide Strategic Guidance: Ensure consistent CWS practices and compliance across Canada. Lead advancement to propose, implement, and communicate changes to CDW’s policies and programs to necessary stakeholders.
  • Travel: 10 - 15%.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years human resources experience in various disciplines, but generalist experience preferred.
  • 7 years progressive management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Organizational Capability, or other relevant degree or equivalent experience.
  • Master's degree - preferred
  • PHR or SPHR certification - preferred

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Well versed and knowledgeable in multiple HR disciplines such as compensation and benefits, organizational design, talent management and development, talent acquisition, HR Operations/HRIS, including current trends and evolving practices.
  • Proven track record of success in getting things done in a complex matrix organization – matrix leadership experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels in a constructive, balanced, and professional manner.
  • Advanced knowledge of human resource legislation and local country employment laws.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead, engage, and drive change. Experience in managing risk, ethics and compliance matters for a global, public company, with deep experience within a Canada context.
  • Proven track record of success in building and executing international HR/CWS strategies within a complex matrixed Fortune 500 (or similar) organization.
  • Experience with acquisitions, divestitures and similar transactions, including integration of ethics and compliance into M&A diligence and post-close integration activities.
  • Experience building, motivating and managing high performance teams.
  • Willingness to travel as required (up to 15%).
  • Bi-lingual English and French is an asset.
