The Customer Finance Manager at Dr. Oetker Canada is a pivotal business partner to our Domestic Sales team – supporting profitable growth through deep collaboration on customer strategies, promotional tactics, and contract terms in a highly competitive landscape.
In this role, you’ll act as the financial guardian of our customer-level commercial performance – enforcing financial guardrails, reviewing/challenging initiatives, ensuring high levels of accuracy and compliance of trade investments and sales reporting. Additionally, this role also oversees the trade administration function – upholding strong financial controls on day-to-day operations while ensuring timely and accurate reconciliation of trade spend.
Your Future
- Sales Financial Integrity & Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely customer-level financial reporting by maintaining alignment across internal planning tools and SAP. Deliver insights to support commercial decision-making and enterprise-wide financial transparency.
- Trade Spend Forecasting & Guardrail Enforcement: Lead the analysis and review of trade spend at a customer and assortment level. Collaborate with Sales to validate, challenge, and strengthen trade investment plans across customers and assortments. Monitor for cross-spending behaviors, guardrail breaches, or inefficient promotional plans.
- Customer Commercial Plans: Act as a partner to Sales to support the development and execution of customer commercial plans by assessing their financial soundness from both an internal and external perspective. Provide a critical financial lens to identify risks, inefficiencies, or misalignment with company guardrails and objectives.
- Financial Forecasting: Lead the development of customer and assortment-level forecasts for budget and latest estimate (LE) cycles. Ensure financial soundness of assumptions across mix, volume, and trade drivers while aligning forecasts with company-wide financial objectives and reporting expectations.
- Trade Compliance & Administration Governance: Oversee governance of trade spending and deduction practices, ensuring adherence to policy and reconciliation to approved terms. Supervise and coach the Trade Admin Supervisor to drive resolution, accuracy, and audit readiness across customer claims and deductions.
Your Strengths
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- 5-7 years of experience in financial analysis, customer finance, or a related role within the Consumer Packaged Goods industry, with people leadership experience
- Demonstrated experience challenging commercial plans and enforcing financial policy
- People leadership experience with direct and indirect reports
- Advanced Excel and proficiency with financial systems (e.g. SAP, PowerBI, trade management tools)
- Strong understanding of trade spend mechanics, deductions, customer financials, and ROI modeling
