About Us

At Cambio Earth, we are changing the way infrastructure operators tackle climate resiliency. As an enterprise software and AI company with deep earth science expertise, built over 20 years as part of BGC Engineering, we work with customers to embed earth science intelligence into their critical infrastructure operations; helping to safeguard communities, essential services, and the environment.

Floods, landslides, seismic and extreme weather events are becoming more frequent, threatening the integrity of critical infrastructure. That’s where we come in – and where you come in. Picture this: roads, railways, mines, pipelines, dams, levees – all protected by real-time situational awareness and insights that turn risks into manageable challenges.

The Cambio Earth team is passionate about making a difference. We love engaging directly with customers. We love building cutting-edge solutions that provide engineers and earth scientists new insights; ensuring the right risk-informed decisions are made at the right time.

The Role

We’re looking for a Data Architect to lead the design and evolution of our data infrastructure at Cambio Earth. You’ll play a key role in shaping how diverse datasets—from geospatial and environmental to operational and observational—are modeled, integrated, and governed. Working closely with data scientists, developers, and product teams, you’ll define scalable architecture, establish data standards, and enable real-time and batch analytics that power critical insights and decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Lead data architecture decisions with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement
  • Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines for ingesting, storing and transforming time-series and geospatial datasets (e.g., imagery, LiDAR, GIS)
  • Collaborate with software developers, data scientists, and domain experts to operationalize models and analytics
  • Implement observability and performance monitoring across data workflows to ensure reliability and efficiency
  • Leverage serverless and cloud-native technologies to support scalable, real-time data processing
  • Support integration of external APIs and real-time data feeds into the platform

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering or backend development, with a focus on cloud-native environments.
  • Strong experience with time-series and geospatial data formats and tools (e.g., GeoJSON, GDAL, PostGIS).
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and cloud data services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Google BigQuery, AWS Redshift, Snowflake, Azure Synapse Analytics).
  • Familiarity with serverless technologies and cloud-native architectures (e.g., AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, Google Cloud Functions).
  • Experience implementing observability and performance measurement in data systems using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and AWS CloudWatch.
  • Skilled in designing efficient, scalable, and reliable data workflows using tools and frameworks such as Apache Airflow, Apache Kafka, and Kubernetes.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Purpose-driven mindset; passion for building tools that address real-world environmental challenges.
