Job Description:

On behalf of our public sector client. Affinity is looking for a Solutions Architect to work closely with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure that technology solutions are fit-for-purpose, scalable, and aligned with institutional goals. The position is responsible for designing and guiding the implementation of technology solutions that align with enterprise architecture principles.



Responsibilities:

Solution Architecture

• Design and implement solution architectures for assigned projects or initiatives.

• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure architectural alignment.

• Provide expert guidance on solution patterns, templates, and best practices.

• Document solution designs and contribute to the architecture repository.

• Pre-project opportunity assessment and estimation

Project Consulting & Delivery

• Support project teams by reviewing and advising on solution designs.

• Ensure solutions meet business requirements, technical standards, and compliance needs.

• Identify and communicate risks, trade-offs, and opportunities for optimization.

Technology Evaluation & Governance

• Evaluate software products and services for project suitability.

• Support adherence to architectural standards and governance processes.


Stakeholder Engagement

• Work with business and IT stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

• Communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.


Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).

• Minimum 7 years of experience in IT solution development, with expertise in at least two of the following: application development, infrastructure, middleware, data architecture, or operations.

• Experience in higher education or public sector environments is an asset.

• Familiarity with frameworks such as TOGAF, ITIL, PMBOK, or ISO standards are assets.

• Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles and agile methodologies.

• Good understanding of a breadth of functional areas of IT and depth of knowledge in several.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Proficiency in architectural modeling and documentation tools.

• Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and project contexts.
