On-Call Clerk
REGULAR TERM (10-Month) POSITION (Monday to Friday, 06:45-14:15 must be flexible with start/end times)
As one of the largest, most progressive, urban districts in the province, Burnaby provides comprehensive educational programs and services to 41 elementary and 8 secondary schools, plus a number of additional facilities. The Burnaby School District is seeking a Receptionist for the Board Office. The On-Call Clerk is responsible for filling daily vacancies by dispatching teachers and support staff replacements to meet the needs of the district. The On-Call Clerk enters a variety of data and generates reports. The On-Call Clerk performs general clerical duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Determines daily vacancies, selects and contacts appropriate replacements and confirms arrangements with schools for Teachers and support staff to meet the needs of the district
- Enters a variety of data from a variety of source materials and checks for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintains office records and produces related reports (e.g. teacher-on-call usage, teacher absenteeism, and other statistics).
- Performs a variety of general clerical duties.
- Operates a variety of office equipment.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- One year clerical work experience or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
- Thorough knowledge of computer and software applications related to work performed.
- Sound knowledge of office procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively at the level required for the job.
- Physical ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.
- Demonstrated ability to work at the level of independence and with the degree of initiative appropriate to the position.
