EPCOR’s Water Services group (EWS) is hiring a Senior Digital Solutions Analyst (Senior Business Analyst) to join the Linear Asset Operations Team. This full-time, permanent role is based at EPCOR Tower in downtown Edmonton.


In this role, you’ll be a key piece of EPCOR Water Services’ major digital transformation initiative. You’ll help gather business requirements, facilitate process discovery sessions, scope solutions, and collaborate with IT to plan and deliver tools that support EPCOR Water Services new integrated operations centre. You’ll lead cross-departmental projects, help solve complex business challenges, and present use cases and business plans to leadership for approval.

What you’d be responsible for


In the role of Senior Digital Solutions Analyst, you are accountable to the Digital Solutions Manager and will have the following key accountabilities (but are not limited to these):


  • Requirements Gathering & Process Analysis:
    • Lead the collection and analysis of detailed business requirements for analytics, reporting, geospatial, and other technology products.
    • Evaluate current business processes to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
    • Ensure process and data maturity are sufficient to support effective technology solutions.
    • Collaborate with Operational Excellence Consultants to align process changes with successful technology adoption.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:
    • Act as a liaison between business units and IT, ensuring clear communication of requirements and feedback.
    • Apply knowledge of business operations and IT systems to align stakeholders and ensure shared understanding throughout solution delivery.
  • Solution Design & Delivery:
    • Scope and design end-to-end data solutions based on business needs.
    • Identify user personas, define strategic justifications, and recommend appropriate technologies.
    • Ensure compliance with internal policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Support product development to ensure solutions meet user expectations.
  • Documentation & Testing:
    • Maintain centralized scoping templates and update documentation to reflect evolving strategies and workflows.
    • Define user acceptance criteria and support user acceptance testing in collaboration with IT and business users.
  • Training & Support:
    • Develop and deliver training materials for various data products.
    • Provide support and guidance to end users across departments.
  • Collaboration & Relationship Building:
    • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across field and office environments.
    • Adapt communication styles to suit different technical proficiencies.
    • Foster a collaborative environment where feedback is valued and integrated into solution design.
  • Strategic Contributions:
    • Support strategic initiatives by applying expertise in business analysis, product design, and stakeholder engagement.
    • Ensure timely and accurate creation of data and project scoping requirements.
    • Drive success across operational, financial, and stakeholder performance metrics.


What’s required to be successful


Qualifications & Experience:

  • A degree in Commerce (preferably with a major in Management Information Systems or Business Technology Management) or in Computer Science (with a minor in Business preferred).
  • Degrees in related fields such as Information Technology, Data Analytics, Product Design, or Project Management may also be considered, particularly if supported by relevant certifications such as CCBA, CBAP, AAC, PMP, or Agile credentials.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in business analysis or directly related work in data and analytics product delivery.
  • Experience working with business users in engineering, operational, or construction environments is highly valued.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Solid understanding of business analysis techniques, product design principles, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including both custom-built and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions.
  • Working knowledge of Agile project management approaches and tools.
  • Proficiency with desktop productivity tools (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio), collaboration platforms (e.g., Teams, Outlook, DevOps), and data analysis tools such as Power BI or equivalent.
  • Exposure to cloud-based data engineering platforms (e.g., Azure, Databricks) and geospatial tools (e.g., ESRI ArcGIS) is an asset.
  • Understanding of utility-related systems such as work management, asset management, SCADA, telemetry, and customer information systems is beneficial.

Hours of work: 40 hours per week – Monday to Friday

Wage: Starting at $50.95 per hour.

  • Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and based on a combination of factors as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
