About the workplace

This is a permanent, full-time role that will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. This role may require you to work in-office at least once a week.


As a Consultant, Asset Liability Management (ALM), you will ensure that Vancity will have relevant market and member risk analyses to enable the development of the asset-liability risk strategy to enhance the financial margin and longer term financial contribution.


A typical day would involve:

  • Provide recommendations for strategies to manage market and liquidity risks for Vancity to optimize long term financial contribution
  • Develop pro-forma balance sheet and financial margin forecasts, perform sensitivity and scenario analyses, and measure interest rate and liquidity risk to present findings and inform treasury strategy recommendations.
  • Perform sensitivity and scenario analysis for strategy development and forecasting to inform treasury strategy recommendations.
  • Consult with internal stakeholders on strategic project initiatives and present findings and recommendations to enable the achievement of business objectives.
  • Document and perform analysis enabling the maintenance of the hedging portfolio in alignment with approved treasury strategies and accounting requirements.


You have:

  • Experience with programming languages such as SQL, Python, or R would be an asset
  • Strong knowledge of asset and liability modelling
  • Solid quantitative and modeling development experience.
  • Ability to communicate technical and analytical concepts to a broad range of stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, conceptualization, and strategic thinking skills
  • Experience in a financial institution is a nice-to-have

The salary range for the role is $81,200 to $102,000. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
