REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE (25-R351)

Bargaining Unit: UNIFOR-HOSPITAL
Status: Full Time TEMPORARY
Department: Mental Health Rehabilitation Level 1
Site: St. Joseph's Hospital
Shifts: Days/Nights including weekends
Rate of Pay: $35.505-$38.163 per hour


Qualifications:

  • Currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing
  • Mental health experience required
  • Knowledge of psychiatric illnesses/diagnosis, treatment, relevant legislation (MHA, HCCA, OH&S, PHIPA), PSR/recovery, understanding of least restraint and safety devices, and evidence-based practices related to serious mental illness
  • Knowledge of nursing practice standards and practice guidelines
  • Skills in nursing assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation
  • Advanced skills in communication; therapeutic, interpersonal and written
  • Ability to build professional nurse-client relationships
  • Advanced critical thinking skills including problem solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Registered Nurses and an interprofessional team
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position
  • Demonstrated regular attendance at work is required

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
    Offers of employment made to external candidates are conditional upon providing proof of COVID-19 vaccination as per the SJCG Immunization Policy IMS-04-005or proof of valid medical exemption, prior to the offered effective date.
