Responsibilities

  • Majority of the time you will be providing ongoing labouring support to the common services team
  • Additionally, you will be operating various types of equipment effectively and safely - utilizing machine specific controls to complete all necessary tasks
  • Interpreting verbal and non-verbal communication (including hand signals) from operators, ground personnel and labourers, and acts accordingly
  • Performing basic mechanical inspections and servicing including controls and operations, completing logbooks, performs minor maintenance and adjustments, ensuring good housekeeping of all equipment and work areas
  • This includes working near other equipment and people in often high traffic construction zones and public areas
  • Work in confined, fast-paced working environments, and always exercises extreme caution
  • Recognize existing and potential hazards and know how to identify these through conducting a field level pre-job hazard analysis, checking for hazards and assessing any tasks before starting
  • Ensuring that work is safely completed by the set deadlines and on schedule

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years labouring experience on major infrastructure projects preferred
  • Minimum 3+ years’ equipment operating in a busy, high-traffic environment
  • Fully competent and experienced with operating the following: – 5T excavator, 774 loader, ride-on mower, Elgin Sweeper and skid steer with sweeper, milling and roller attachments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and meet deadlines
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean 3-year driver’s abstract
  • CSTS-2020 Fundamentals and WHMIS 2015 certifications (training provided)

Work Conditions

  • Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (evenings and weekends free)
  • Work in all weather conditions year-round and willing to lend a hand where needed
