Role description:

Arcadis is currently seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to join our Mobility Global Business Area (GBA) in Vancouver Canada.

We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. In this role, you will be a key member of a project delivery team providing technical leadership to the commercial function during the design and execution phase of major capital construction projects. Your work will contribute to the successful completion of the project.

Role accountabilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the commercial activities and ensuring the successful financial performance of major projects. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, Project Director, and Country Commercial Director, you will act as the commercial lead, managing and directing a cost and commercial team. You will oversee the preparation and monthly review of the Cost to Complete/Estimate at Completion, ensuring reconciliation of time sheets and forecasting before gaining approval from senior leadership and entering the data into Oracle. Additionally, you will prepare and update monthly cost reports for internal stakeholders, advising management of any variations to the budget, including under- or over-booking and change management processes. For external stakeholders, you will provide detailed cost reports that include recorded effort, outcomes, variations, early warnings, and change management updates.

In this role, you will be responsible for processing project change notices, maintaining change logs, and developing management reports that align with project strategies and agreements with design teams and the client. You will ensure invoices are processed, verified, and issued accurately and on time, while also tracking payments and managing accounts receivable and payable. Financial classifications and reporting will be critical as you work to prepare financial reports, assist with month-end and year-end duties, and address audit requirements. You will also support foreign exchange forecasting for international teams and prepare estimates for changes in scope, ensuring these are reviewed and approved by the Project Manager or Director. Your responsibilities will also include maintaining project-related records such as contracts, change orders, schedules, and reports, and ensuring comprehensive documentation is in place.

In this role, you will identify and resolve project control issues, monitor earned value metrics, and manage CPI/SPI forecasting and re-baselining efforts in coordination with schedulers, design leads, and senior leadership. You will oversee the implementation of solutions, collaborating with the project control team to address challenges and maintain project alignment. Additionally, you will manage contracts, letters, and claims, ensuring compliance with project requirements while supporting the financial performance and successful delivery of the project. Your leadership and attention to detail will be essential in driving the commercial success of the project and ensuring all financial processes are executed to the highest standard.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or similar
  • Membership in recognized professional bodies (e.g., PQS, MRICS, MCIOB) is preferred
  • Experience working in Canada, the UK, Australia or the Middle East is a must
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment demonstrating excellent communication skills;
  • Proven ability of delivering high value, complex Progressive Design Build/ Alliance framework/ NEC contracts
  • Minimum 12 years experience

The salary range for this position is $138,000 - $178,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
