We are hiring Assay Lab Technicians!!! This role is ideal for candidates with a background in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering Technology and experience in laboratory environments. If you’re skilled in fire assays, wet chemistry and instrumental analysis, and comfortable working with lab equipment and chemicals, this could be a great fit. Candidates must be local to Timmins and committed to working safely in a fast-paced , rotation- based schedule.

ABOUT THE JOB:

  • Prepare samples by crushing, pulverizing, and splitting according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform fire assays, wet chemistry, and instrumental analysis (e.g., AA, ICP) to determine metal content.
  • Maintain accurate records of assay results and ensure data integrity.
  • Calibrate and maintain lab equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
  • Monitor and manage reagent inventory and sample tracking.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the lab and mill.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Work in compliance with prescribed company policies and procedures.
  • Be proactive with company safety initiatives.
  • Additional tasks assigned by the Lab Supervisor and/or Engineering personnel.

Candidates must be local to Timmins.

Start/End Hours – Rotation Schedule: Begins with a 7-7 rotation and transition to 5-5-4 rotation, switching between days and nights.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION/ EXPERIENCE:

  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation to the worksite are required.
  • High school diploma: post-secondary education in Chemical Engineering Technology or Metallurgical Engineering Technology or equivalent relevant work experience is an asset.
  • Previous experience in a metallurgical or assay lab is an asset.
  • Basic Mill Process Operator Common Core is an asset.
  • Capable of performing physical tasks.
  • Comfortable working with chemicals and lab equipment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow procedures.
  • Advanced computer skills including high proficiency in operating spreadsheets and word processing software are required.
