Summary Of Position

The Site Controller is responsible for driving financial results by providing and challenging management with more informative and timelier financial and operating information, enabling proactive decision making, improving issues resolution and planning. This position will partner with and productively challenge the VP/General Manager in the management of the business. A key goal in this position is to develop, implement and maintain a sound internal control structure to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting and accounting. The Site Controller will also educate all functional groups about the importance of internal controls. This position is in Northstar’s Finance Department and reports to the CFO and VP of Operations. The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Prepare the Site’s quarterly and annual financial statements (Gross Profit)
  • Plan and analyze the Site’s annual and capital Budgeting processes
  • Manage the Site’s Quarterly Reforecast process.
  • Align financial reporting with the company’s goals and objectives
  • Operational and Program Management team member, supporting site leadership with costing and operational analysis to support the future growth of the site
  • Site Financial lead in the development and analysis of pricing and overhead rates in coordination with Program Finance lead, Business Development and with local Program management
  • Ensure the corporate Incurred Cost reporting for Phoenix aligns with the business results as determined under the FAR/CAS
  • Manage Phoenix internal audit to ensure compliance under the FAR
  • Manage site audits with financial and governmental (DCAA/DCMA) agencies
  • Ensure compliance with the Company’s financial policies, procedures and internal controls
  • Provide risk management input to corporate (insurance)
  • Maintain leadership and succession planning for department
  • Support and Review Physical Inventory and Cycle counting for the Site. Ensure financial impacts are audited and updated within ERP system.

  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles.

  • The ability to wear proper personal protective equipment, including earplugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED

  • Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required. CPA highly desirable
  • Experience Required: 15 years’ experience accounting experience within a manufacturing environment. With 5 years in a leadership position.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Overall computer proficiency with many software programs, especially advanced Excel
  • Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing accounting concepts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to various levels within the organization as well as to external customers and vendors.
  • Knowledge of INFOR/CSI ERP software highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated initiative and leadership abilities.
  • Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
  • Strong work ethic
  • Proficient in self-review to ensure accuracy.
