Your Next Challenge

Reporting to the Health and Safety General Supervisor, you will be part of the Construction Department. You will play a vital role in ensuring worker safety and compliance with safety standards during the construction phases of mining projects and assisting the Canadian health and safety teams throughout all phases of construction.

  • Assist in developing and implementing safety corrective action plans based on the needs of each site;
  • Conduct regular inspections/audits of construction sites to identify potential hazards and ensure proper use of safety equipment;
  • Monitor work practices to ensure compliance with safety protocols;
  • Work closely with site Health & Safety Coordinators, site managers and other construction team members to ensure all construction activities comply with established safety standards;
  • Support investigations in the event of an accident or incident on the construction site to determine the causes and implement corrective measures;
  • Analyze safety BBO’s data and trends to identify activities or areas for improvement;
  • Support in the implementation of continuous safety initiatives to reduce risks;
  • Assisting for accurate documentation of safety activities, inspections, incidents, and training;
  • Oversee the implementation and engagement of RMMS thru our project by identifying actions to be putted in place to comply with the company expectation;
  • Conduct and/or assist detailed risk assessments for each construction project to identify potential hazards and implement preventative measures;
  • Encourage a proactive safety culture among workers by rewarding safe behaviors and emphasizing the importance of safety in all construction activities;
  • Support construction management of all sites to organize training sessions for to inform them of specific construction-related hazards, new regulation and appropriate safe practices.

What You Need To Succeed

  • University Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety;
  • Relevant experience in health & safety;
  • Experience in the mining industry is considered an asset;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

Note that the official working language for our Nunavut operations is English.

Your Work Schedule

  • Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. A combination of tele-working with presence at our Construction office in Rouyn-Noranda, QC. Occasional visits to site may also be required.
