The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an appropriately doctor to support the National Spinal Injuries Unit on a fixed term basis. The post is offered on a six month basis in the first instance with the potential to extend. The Queen Elizabeth National Spinal Injuries Unit is responsible for the management of all patients in Scotland who have a traumatic injury to the spinal cord. Commissioned in 1992 it has continued to develop the management of the acute injury and life time care of all of its patients to maximize function and to prevent the complications of paralysis. Facilities include a combined Admission Ward and HDU (Edenhall) and a Rehabilitation Ward (Philipshill) with a Respiratory Care Unit. In addition there is a custom built Step-Down Unit for patients and relatives and Research Mezzanine (Glasgow University) which ensures that researchers are embedded in the Unit. Clinical services are provided at the Glasgow centre and appropriate outreach clinics as required.

You will be appropriately experienced and qualified, fully registered with a license to practice with the GMC. Applicants will be considered with experience in the following areas, Rehabilitation Medicine, spinal surgery, neuroanaesthetics. Non UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

  • Applicants who have not undertaken a UK foundation programme within 3.5 years of the advertised post start date, will be asked to submit a Certificate of Readiness to Enter Specialty Training (CREST). The CREST form must be completed by a consultant who has worked with you for a minimum continuous period of three months whole-time equivalent wholly within the 3.5 years prior to the advertised post start date for which you are applying.
