As part of NAIT’s mission to be the most relevant and responsive post-secondary institution in Canada, the School of Health Sciences aims to drive the evolution of health care education in Alberta. The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Programs, located at our Edmonton Main Campus, requires an individual to join their team as a part-time Instructional Assistant II. Recent sonography experience in general ultrasound and/or adult echocardiography is required.
The position is primarily for weekdays and include may some weekends and evenings. Successful candidate must be available for shifts between the hours of 8 am and 6 pm.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with instruction during DMS student lab activities
Assist instructors during instructional periods in explanation and demonstration of scanning procedures
Evaluate students based on existing rubrics and assessment tools, provided by instructors and provide student with feedback
Support instructors in grading, simulation activities, and lab setup
Work-integrated learning student supervision
Independent supervision of students and provide tutorial/remedial support
Share feedback to the program
Maintain professional and ethical relations with students, colleagues, and industry partners
Other duties as assigned
Skills & Abilities:
Excellent sonography skills
Proficient computer skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated professionalism
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to juggle competing priorities
Qualifications:
A diploma in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Active Membership with Sonography Canada; CRGS and CRCS
Recent scanning experience
Recent precepting experience would be an asset
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: $37,762.06- $47,678.40 (based on 0.6 FTE) annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – Instructional Assistant II).
This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
