Job Summary:
We’re looking for a creative, social media-savvy Content and Community Coordinator to join our team. You’ll be on the front lines of digital storytelling, filming short-form videos, capturing live event moments, engaging with our community, and helping shape our online voice.
You’ll collaborate closely with the Events and Marketing Specialist and Business Information Analyst to ensure everything we create is aligned with strategy and insight.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Creation & Social Media
- Plan, film, and edit short-form video content (TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts etc.)
- Capture behind-the-scenes moments, live event footage, and interviews
- Manage a content calendar and schedule posts across platforms
- Write engaging captions and optimize content for reach and engagement
Community & Influencer Engagement
- Monitor and respond to comments, DMs, and tagged content to build an active online presence.
- Identify and collaborate with influencers, creators, and community partners to expand reach.
- Curate and amplify user-generated content that aligns with Tourism Burnaby’s brand.
Trendspotting & Strategy
- Stay ahead of social media trends, viral content, and platform updates to inform content strategy.
- Collaborate on storytelling for campaigns and events
- Use analytics and insights to refine strategies
Performance Tracking & Reporting
- Track social media performance and adapt tactics based on results
- Report on audience engagement, growth, and content performance
General Support
- Support broader marketing initiatives, website updates, and events as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A passion for storytelling, tourism, and digital content.
- 2–3 years of experience in social media, content creation, or digital marketing.
- Demonstrated experience creating and editing short-form video content (e.g., Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts).
- Skilled with mobile editing tools (e.g., CapCut, InShot) and basic Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere, etc.).
- Familiarity with social media management tools (e.g., Later, Sprout Social, Meta Business Suite).
- Knowledge of social media best practices, current trends, and platform algorithms.
- Strong copywriting, storytelling, and communication skills.
- Comfortable working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to cover events.
Desirable:
- Experience working in tourism, events, or destination marketing.
- Additional creative skills such as photography, graphic design, or motion graphics.
- Experience being on-camera for content when needed.
- Knowledge of Burnaby or the Metro Vancouver region.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for event coverage

We’re looking for:
- Creativity and storytelling
- Video editing that suits TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts
- Content that feels authentic, creative, and engaging — no fancy equipment needed, just your phone and a good story

This is a full-time position based in Burnaby, BC. The role requires in-office presence during the probationary period, with the opportunity to transition into a hybrid model afterward. Compensation for this role ranges from $60,000 – $65,000 annually, based on experience.
