Help us build the City of Edmonton's Light Rail Transit (LRT) system! We're searching for 3 skilled and motivated Engineering Project Managers to join our dynamic Capital Line South Extension (CLSE) and LRT Renewal teams in the LRT Expansion and Renewal branch to support the Structures/Facilities, LRT Systems and LRT Infrastructure programs. As a key player in our integrated business model, you'll lead and oversee projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

As the Engineering Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the design and delivery of infrastructure projects related to the expansion and renewal of Edmonton's LRT network. This includes managing multi-disciplinary teams, collaborating with consultants and contractors, and ensuring compliance with all applicable standards and regulations.
What will you do?:
- Manage the planning, design and delivery of LRT infrastructure projects including strategic initiatives, resource and financial management. LRT Infrastructure projects may include multiple technical disciplines for work related to or within LRT stations, maintenance facilities, track ways, and bridges
- Define the project goals, objectives and planned deliverables in order to fulfill the requirements of the Strategy and Operate Business Partners and Project Sponsors
- Manage, monitor and report project milestones through detailed plans and schedules, ensuring the project is on budget, on schedule, and within the defined scope and quality
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors and Business Partners to deliver project scopes
- Develop and steward relationships that support the success of the projects Implement robust public/partner engagement processes and activities, communication plans, working in collaboration with Communication
- Respond and/or manage response to project inquiries in accordance with the Integrated Infrastructure Services process
- Review and seek expertise from other technical experts as required to accept the design and delivery of work performed by engineering consultants
- Review technical feasibility studies, master plans, functional programs and design reports, technical design drawings and specifications, as well as operation and maintenance reports and manuals for compliance with technical standards and guidelines
- Arrange for Subject Matter Expert review for technical scopes outside of the Position’s competency
- Ensure appropriate specifications and standards are developed and/or used based on technical expertise, City Standards, and Guidelines
- Apply technical and engineering expertise, participate in technical discussion with Engineering Consultants to anticipate, identify and resolve issues that may impact the project
- Review and report on progress and conformance from construction site visits. Participate and resolve site issues
- Document all project activities in accordance with the Project Management methodology, City policies, processes and procedures, as well as regulatory and legislative requirements
- Manage the procurement and contract processes, including preparation of tender documents, review of proposals/bids and make recommendations for acceptance
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering
- Must be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in good standing and registered with APEGA. Applicants in a different Canadian jurisdiction eligible for Inter-Provincial Mobility (IPMA) with APEGA may be considered. Registration with APEGA must be obtained prior to commencement of employment
- Minimum of four (4) years of a combination of engineering and project management experience
- Working knowledge of relevant codes, legislation, regulations, policies and procedures (OH&S, Environmental, Builders Lien Act, etc.), and City Standards and Guidelines
- Strong technical skills in construction processes related to civil, structural, mechanical or electrical disciplines
- Strong project management skills including an understanding of project management methods and techniques [Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) best practices]
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in the delivery of projects
- Proven planning, organizational and problem solving skills
- Experience implementing public engagement processes
- Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills with experience in solving complex and sensitive issues
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and presenting
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to develop strong relationships and work in a collaborative, integrated manner
- Experience managing and working with external consultants as well as City Partners
- Ability and willingness to delegate and empower others

- Coursework/training in project management; financial management; or other leadership training
- Experience with different project delivery models including but not limited to, Design Bid Build, Design Build, Construction Manager at Risk, etc.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). You will be required to arrange your own transportation for use while on City business. Where appropriate, you will be reimbursed for expenses related to that travel in accordance with City of Edmonton policy
- This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and office, and will require site visits / inspections of construction sites.
