Regional Safety and Environmental Manager – Central Region, Ontario and Manitoba (Full Time) - Greater Toronto Area, ON

This position requires collaboration with employees and supervisors to identify and correct potential safety and health hazards and to provide compliance assurance and assistance.

The successful candidate will work well with little supervision and must apply advanced occupational health and safety knowledge to all areas which may include fleet safety, personnel safety, process safety, equipment safety, industrial hygiene and product safety - in order to protect the health and safety of all company employees. The Occupational Health and Safety Manager also provides leadership, guidance and assistance in the prevention and control of all incidents.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Work with line managers to ensure support is provided in achieving zero/zero performance in safety, and health goals.
  • Assist in implementing safe and compliant standard work practices with line personnel and monitor compliance through safety inspections.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety performance and take proactive actions to ensure implementation.
  • Monitor local safety regulatory requirements and standards along with company policies and standards to ensure compliance.
  • Provide active support to site locations by training employees on requirements and assist the site to ensure safety compliance to applicable provincial and federal regulations as well as to Linde policies and procedures.
  • Report incidents, conduct incident investigations, and facilitation of root cause analysis.
  • Perform industrial hygiene monitoring, noise surveys and communicate with regulatory inspectors/officers, where appropriate.
  • Assist during potentially hazardous work situations including confined space entries and environmental clean-ups.
  • Assist in the review and completion of MOCs.
  • Perform safety and environmental assessments
  • Liaise with OHS government officials and assist the facilities with any reporting requirements
  • Assist in the implementation of new digital solutions to monitor, measure and/or assist in the prevention of OHS-related incidents.


Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of practical experience in industrial occupational health and safety.
  • Must be a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or a Certified Industrial Hygienist.
  • Bilingual (English/French) (written and spoken) an asset
  • Possess strong skills in the use of Microsoft software applications and other software applications
  • Possess strong project management skills.
  • Knowledgeable in the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and related Canadian standards.
  • Possess strong training and presentation skills.
  • Proven leadership skills.
