Technical Project Engineer - Renewable Energy Projects
Location: Montreal, CA (Hybrid options available)
Industry: Renewable Energy / Wind Power
Type: Full-Time
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly driven and communicative Technical Project Engineer to support the execution and commissioning of wind farm projects across Canada and North America. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a cross-functional environment, enjoys being the go-to technical expert, and has a strong track record of leading engineering projects from planning through execution.
You'll play a critical role in coordinating technical operations, collaborating with internal engineering teams and external stakeholders, and ensuring project milestones are met with precision and transparency. This is a hands-on, task-focused leadership role-ideal for someone with a background in engineering project management, project engineering, or program coordination in the renewable energy or manufacturing sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for project execution teams.
- Coordinate across engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Controls) to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Lead the resolution of technical issues and RFIs, working closely with subject matter experts.
- Track and manage technical risks, interfaces, and action items throughout the project lifecycle.
- Proactively communicate updates to internal and external stakeholders-pushing information rather than waiting to be asked.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations and project status reports to leadership.
- Capture lessons learned and support continuous improvement across projects.
- Support the transition of completed projects to the Services/Operations team.
What We're Looking For:
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
- 10+ years of experience in engineering project execution, ideally in wind energy, power systems, or manufacturing.
- Proven experience leading technical projects (not people), including planning, coordination, and execution.
- Strong understanding of turbine systems and/or Balance of Plant (BoP) design.
- Familiarity with NERC reliability standards.
- Excellent communication skills-comfortable reaching out proactively and managing expectations across diverse teams.
- Strong organizational skills with a focus on task tracking and follow-through.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience working with SCADA systems, MV electrical systems, or wind turbine certification processes.
- Background in manufacturing or process coordination.
- Multilingual capabilities (especially French).
- Project Management certification or formal training.
Reporting Structure:
- This role does not include direct reports.
- You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineering teams, and external partners.
