Senior Health and Safety Specialist

We are currently seeking a Senior Health and Safety Specialist to join our client's manufacturing team in Niagara Falls, ON region.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the implementation of health and safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Conduct workplace safety inspections and hazard assessments regularly.
• Assist in the investigation of incidents, accidents, and near misses; document findings and support corrective actions.
• Deliver training on topics such as PPE, WHMIS, Lockout/Tagout, chemical handling, and emergency response.
• Maintain safety documentation, including incident logs, training records, and SDS.
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure equipment and processes comply with safety regulations.
• Support compliance with OSHA, EPA, MOL, WSIB, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
• Monitor safety metrics and report key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist with emergency preparedness drills and ensure readiness of first aid and spill kits.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in a health and safety role within the food or chemical manufacturing industry.
• Working knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation (OSHA, WHMIS, etc.).
• Certification in Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC), First Aid, or equivalent is an asset.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to influence safe behaviors and build relationships across all levels of the organization.
