Cleaver-Brooks Canada Packaged Boiler Systems, a leading manufacturer of boilers and energy recovery systems, has multiple immediate openings for Welders on the second shift, which runs Monday to Thursday 4:00 PM to 2:00 AM at their facility located at 161 Lorne Avenue, West, Stratford, Ontario, Canada. Candidates must be available to train during the day shift Monday to Thursday 6 am to 4pm. Length of training time is determined through ability to achieve internal welding competencies in line with the ASME code and internal job requirements.

Basic Function: Assemble, fit and weld code or pressure products.

Essential Duties

  • Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools.
  • Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes.
  • Tack-weld fitted parts together.
  • Lay out and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met.
  • Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers.
  • Locate and mark work piece bending and cutting lines, allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and other component specifications.
  • Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, or bolt traps, or bolt parts in position for welding or riveting.
  • Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences.
  • Move parts into position, manually or with hoists or cranes.
  • Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, and drill presses, to bend, cut form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components.
  • Pass the required internal ASME weld tickets for welding pressure products. This description indicates the general nature of the tasks and responsibilities required of position given this classification. It is not intended as a complete list of specific duties and responsibilities.
  • Previous experience as a lead hand.

Working Conditions And Hazards

Normal plant, shop, field or office conditions. From time to time, slightly disagreeable features. Negligible or no exposure.

Hours Of Work

Full time, Second Shift, 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 am, Monday through Thursday, with voluntary overtime.
