Member Financial Advisor
Bow Valley Credit Union

The Member Financial Advisor is responsible for growing BVCU’s portfolio by developing and maintaining relationships with members and potential members to proactively meet current and future financial needs with complete member financial solutions (including memberships and accounts, a full range of lending, and investment products/services).
The Member Financial Advisor actively participates in branch and community awareness and networking activities, having expert knowledge of all credit union financial products and services, and participates in increasing awareness of BVCU and identified business growth strategies and strategic planning.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Member Experience
- Creates a positive first impression and models exceptional service delivery at every member interaction through full discussion and understanding of the member's full financial profile
- Identify member product and service gaps and recommend solutions
Retail Credit Activities
- Conducts interviews with members and provides information on the full range of credit, and deposit products and services to recommend tailored solutions to meet their needs to support member needs
- Provides decisions on the applications or refer applications to management/Lending Services for approval using approved limits
- Completes all lending applications, renewals, extensions, alterations, and substitutions of security as established by policies and procedures and ensure that all documentation is error-free for approval within discretionary limits or makes recommendations for approvals/declines with little-to-no-coaching
- Conducts routine loan audits as directed by reviewing loan reports and identifying further action required to address problem areas and initiates action in accordance with established procedures, including following up on delinquent accounts as directed
Member Relationships Activities
- Actively seeks sales opportunities to achieve individual sales and profitability goals with current members, new member prospects including opening new memberships as well as personal/business account openings to build the existing book of business
- Supports the achievement of annual branch goals and objectives through proactive promotion of BVCU’s complete range of products and services, participation in branch campaigns, and actively seeking potential cross-sell and/or referral opportunities (including to 3rd party partners) during interaction with members or potential members
- Makes recommendations and processes appropriate documentation associated with the sale of all credit union products based on policies and procedures, ensuring application of appropriate rates and service charges
- Proactively engages in business development including managing BVCU’s pipeline through lead and referral generation
- Supports member retention, including reducing payouts and loss of overall Products Per Member
- Completes new membership openings as well as account openings
- Discusses and completes investment transactions (registered and non-registered)

- Excellent knowledge of the broader financial services industry and mortgage and retail lending market
- Strong investigative skills for uncovering needs for both existing and potential members to support business growth

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent; related post-secondary education in business, finance, or a related field is an asset
- Experience helping members for a minimum five years, with a minimum of two years of advanced experience encompassing complex retail lending and investments; previous DNA experience is an asset
- Proven ability to seek out and identify new business opportunities, and meet and understand the needs of existing and potential members
- Strong knowledge of credit union operations, philosophies, principles, lending legislation, regulations, policies, procedures, products, and services as well as working knowledge of the Credit Union Banking System
THE FINE PRINT:
- This position is on-site
- Working Hours: Monday – Friday 8:45 am to 5:15 pm
- Must be bondable and have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
